About Tim Carmody 

Tim Carmody is a writer and editor from Detroit, Michigan. He's currently the newsletter and Friday editor of Kottke.org, and the editor of the Amazon Chronicles.

He is also a freelance writer and reporter, a redhead, and a recovering academic.

He has bachelor's degrees in mathematics and philosophy from Michigan State University, and an MA and PhD in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tim has previously been a senior writer and reporter at Wired, The Verge, and Adweek, and a writer/editor at The Message and Snarkmarket.

Tim's freelance work has appeared in The Atlantic, Fast Company, Newsweek, National Geographic, Pacific Standard, HiLoBrow, The Daily Dot, Nieman Journalism Lab, MIT Technology Review, Slate, Hazlitt, Popula, and elsewhere.
